Director on Deck: Jacky Joins the Crew on the Kalena
Director Jacky got her wet weather gear on for a trip on the F.V Kelana, having the opportunity to watch the crew do what they love. To the boys, it’s more than just catching prawns; it’s about producing a product that carries a story of hard work, integrity, and connection to the ocean. Jacky witnessed first-hand the relentless efforts—long nights, enduring bad weather, and navigating the many challenges that come with the profession.
Celebrating what our fishers go through to source a premium product, from ocean to plate, is the real story. It is easy to romanticise the experience by focusing on winter sunsets and calm days. However, the reality of being aboard a vessel, in depths of up to 200 metres, catching eastern King prawns for the consumer, takes dedication and a love for the job.
